Job Introduction:

We are actively seeking to recruit a Technical Lead, responsible for implementing Building & Plant maintenance works to support our large critical infrastructure contract in Somerset and the largest construction site in Europe.

Role Responsibility:

This is an exciting time to join the team at Hinkley Point C, just a year and a half into our ten year contract.The Technical Lead will manage a team of Engineers, Skilled Craftsmen and Assistants as well as Sub Contractors. Two days are rarely the same, with an extremely diverse task list in a rapidly changing construction environment.

The Technical Lead will be expected;

  • To lead and assist in the development of the skilled engineering team to meet operational and business needs.
  • To perform reactive repair & maintenance tasks.
  • To monitor and respond to BMS generated alarms and faults.
  • Maintaining the standards, Service Level Agreement and Key Performance Indicators of this service.
  • Undertake designated Authorised Persons duties on shift.
  • To update PPM records.
  • To review/prepare risk assessments and method statements and associated health and safety paperwork as required.
  • To monitor plant performance and instigate remedial works in a timely manner.
  • Support the management team in continually reviewing operational procedures to maximise contractual compliance and customer satisfaction.
  • To comply with the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act and emergency procedures as required.
  • To carry out Health and Safety responsibilities as per G4S Corporate Part B Responsibilities document.
  • To perform planned Corporate Workspace Re-engineering tasks.
  • To maintain status of workshops, stores, and FM plant areas.

The Ideal Candidate:

Both G4S and EDF will invest in the right candidate, providing training and upskilling to all of our workforce, as part of our agreement with our client.

We are looking for;

  • Substantial experience in a similar role
  • Qualified to ONC or equivalent in a Building Services, Electrical, or Mechanical discipline.
  • Operational experience of HV & LV systems, standby power, UPS, chilled water & gas systems. Knowledge of IEE Wiring Reg’s 17 th Edition
  • Educated to G.C.S.E. level in English Language and Mathematics or equivalent
  • 17th Edition Electrical qualification or Recognised Building Services qualification in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering
  • PC literacy, MS Office, plus some BMS/PPM systems exposure.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD LT.
  • Knowledgeable in relevant Health & Safety, Risk Assessments, and Permit to Work procedures.
