Job Introduction:

This is an exciting opportunity to join a small but growing team who provide mission critical services to Lincolnshire, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and City of London Police Forces. The services are provided by the G4S team who are based at Lincolnshire Police HQ in Nettleham. This is a full time position for 40 hours per week.


The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support and advice to the East Midlands and City forces in the high level configuration and administration of NicheRMS.


The successful candidate will implement and test new business designs, amended designs, configure new functionality and software releases received from Niche Technologies. They will have and will maintain a thorough technical understanding of NicheRMS and its associated interfaces. Create and maintain positive communications to ensure effective working relationships with individuals, teams and colleagues. This is a ‘hands-on’ position requiring solid technical skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
 

Role Responsibility:

  • Provide an effective system configuration and administration service for the Regional NicheRMS system including fixing defects and interpreting user requirements into specific system application coding.
  • Provide user advice, as appropriate to East Midlands and City IT admins, business teams, managers and users of NicheRMS.
  • Assist in the collation of system change requirements, working within the regional change control process.
  • Ensure all configuration changes are documented and stored in an appropriate manner.
  • Provide testing assistance to the business following system changes.
  • Capture requirements, create use cases, and prepare written functional specifications for subsequent feasibility analysis, technical design and implementation.
  • Analyse data and provides domain and technology expertise, research and recommendations to meet business and functional requirements as applicable to project or product needs.
  • Identify gaps or inefficiencies between business market requirements and existing or proposed solutions and develops recommendations for improvement.
  • Analyse and optimise business and technical processes.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations and demos for product management and other stakeholders, as required.

  • Ability to work on own initiative within the governance framework.
  • Ability to produce good quality Configuration documentation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally.
  • Understand ITIL processes and procedures.
  • Good analytical skills for problem solving.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills in order to operate at all levels throughout the organisation.
  • Flexible, team player, ‘get-it-done’ personality.
  • Ability to plan and organise work independently.
  • Ability to create working prototypes at a variety of levels of fidelity, independently or as part of a team.
  • Hold a full driving licence as travel to other locations will be required.
  • Business analysis knowledge is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience of working within the Policing market sector is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience with working with issue tracking software is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience of programming languages including, but not restricted to SQL, XML, XSLT, Visual Basic is desirable but not essential.
