Job Introduction:

In 2012 G4S and Lincolnshire Police formed a Strategic Partnership and we are now currently looking for individuals who are interested in joining us as a Support Services Administrator on a fixed term contract for 12 months.

This is a part time position covering 20 hours per week based at Lincolnshire Police Headquarters, Nettleham. The benefits of working from this location include; free car parking and 24 hours use of a free gym.

The ideal candidate will provide support and assistance within the department ensuring the smooth operation and delivery of core objectives.  They will promote equality of opportunity to the people of Lincolnshire and treat all individuals fairly and with dignity and respect, in addition to providing high quality, customer focused support.

Role Responsibility:

  • Monitor and maintain adequate stock and equipment at HQ including stationery and specialist policing consumables, liaising with HQ Depts and updating and maintaining records as appropriate.
  • Generate purchase orders for goods and services including receipting when goods and services are delivered. 
  • Provide administration support to the Major Incident Resources Manager.
  • Manage the receipt of abnormal load notifications from hauliers. Carry out a risk assessment of the movement of the abnormal loads with regard to route suitability to ensure road safety is not compromised and congestion is kept to a minimum. Liaise with Hauliers, Local Authorities and Highway Agency officials as appropriate and issue Special Orders for very  large abnormal load movements - arranging Police Officers for escort duties where required or requested.
  • Administration of Vehicle Recovery Operator vetting to ensure that all recovery operators have valid security clearance to work on the police vehicle recovery contract.
  • Undertake the receipt, storage, retrieval, and onward transmission of forensic submissions between police stations and the external forensic providers via HQ. To include completion of related documentation/records to ensure a full audit trail is maintained.
  • Administration of the long service and good conduct medals
  • Provide administrative support to the Vehicle Recovery Scheme Officer including deputising for them during holidays and other absences. This will involve direct contact with members of the public, Vehicle Recovery Operators, Police Officers and other police staff.
  • Provide administrative support to the Business Services Support Officer in relation to OPCC papers and Award Ceremonies. This will include providing support at evening Award Ceremonies and deputising during holidays and other absences.
  • Undertake general administrative tasks such as filing, database inputting, scanning and other related administrative tasks.
  • Provide support as and when required to assist the department in delivering its key objectives. This will include providing cover on Reception, in Reprographics and in the Mailroom.
  • The post holder will be required to carry out such duties as may be determined from time to time within the general scope of the post.  Duties and responsibilities outside the general scope of the post will only be require with the further consent of the post holder.

Essential Skills and Knowledge

  • BTEC / NVQ Level 1 in Business Administration or equivalent or substantial experience in an similar role.

  • Able to use own initiative and make decisions.
  • Demonstrates a methodical approach to work ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Experience of dealing with members of the public, including confrontational situations.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Access.

  • Must have an adaptable and flexible approach, with the willingness to learn.

Desirable Skills and Knowledge

  • Experience of ordering and maintaining stock.
  • Full driving licence.
