Job Introduction:

In 2012 G4S and Lincolnshire Police formed a Strategic Partnership and we are now currently looking for individuals who are interested in joining us as Application Support.

This is a full time position for 40 hours per week. The post is based at Lincolnshire Police Headquarters, Nettleham. The benefits of working from this location include; free car parking and 24 hours use of a free gym.

The Solutions Analyst will support the delivery of business strategy, the IT programme and business as usual needs by gathering and elaborating market requirements into system requirements in order to solve identified business issues.

This position will work with the IT programme management, business owners, development teams and architects to scope software product features, define requirements for development, system upgrades, and workflow optimisation. The Solutions Analyst also ensures proper development and inclusion of market requirements to meet customer expectations and facilitates communication and understanding of market requirements between stakeholders and technical teams. The Solutions Analyst will also assist the IT department by providing application support services.

The jobholder will also define service strategy and working practices in line with Company Policy and processes to maximise systems availability and performance to support the business operations of G4S Policing Support Services and its clients. He/she will ensure that service solutions in place have sufficient capacity to meet varying business demand, and are maintainable, expandable, fit for purpose, and capable of delivering ongoing business value and benefit.

Create and maintain positive communications to ensure effective working relationships with individuals, teams and colleagues.

Niche RMS (Records Management System) is a single, unified, operational policing system that manages information in relation to the core policing entities. The successful post holder for the job advertised will be responsible for the support and development of this application for 6 police forces, on a shared platform.

Role Responsibility:

  • Help to define and implement IT projects, ensuring that all necessary control mechanisms are in place to monitor activity and ensure delivery within agreed time / cost / quality parameters.
  • Ensure that projects are delivered to the agreed methodology, in line with the IT programme managers requirements.
  • Assist the IT senior management team with strategy, service development and planning as required.
  • Maintain a detailed knowledge of current practice in own area of expertise.
  • Plans, facilitates, and conducts requirements definition sessions, meetings, presentations, and interviews with internal and external stakeholders as needed to define and analyse complex business problems and products.
  • Captures requirements, creates use cases, and prepares written functional specifications for subsequent feasibility analysis, technical design and implementation.
  • Analyses data and provides domain and technology expertise, research and recommendations to meet business and functional requirements as applicable to project or product need.
  • Identifies gaps or inefficiencies between business market requirements and existing or proposed solutions and develops recommendations for improvement.
  • Analyse and optimise business and technical processes.
  • Prepares and delivers presentations and demos for product management and other stakeholders, as required.
  • Collaborates with the programme and IT Management, User Experience and Technology teams on technology assessment and field research to elicit and interpret market requirements.
  • Create and analyse business process modelling to determine and demonstrate the as-is behaviour and should-be state of recommended solutions.
  • Provide application support as required by the business.

    East Mids and City Niche

  • Manage the NicheRMS environments supplied to the forces using the Niche application in line with the Environments strategy, including version control and planning of changes to the environments, and communicating any changes to stakeholders.
  • Maintain a thorough technical understanding of NicheRMS and its associated interfaces, including the NicheRMS Webservices.
  • Understand how NicheRMS applications are upgraded, supporting the Solutions Analysts in upgrades where necessary.
  • Understanding of hardware and software requirements for NicheRMS.
  • Liaising with local development teams at forces using or interfacing data into NicheRMS to understand what is happening within the region and consult on what environments should be used for development and testing phases.
  • Liaising with the Solutions Analysts and Database Administrator teams, organise and prepare any pop up NicheRMS environments as necessary for development or back record conversion work, including the provisioning of additional environments for the Training departments.
  • Create and manage any necessary documentation including the Environments strategy.
  • Support the Service Delivery Manager with Niche Release Management by completing release management documentation, completion of requests for change (RFC), planning changes to environments, completing the a timetable of changes, updating the release calendar, creating release notes and updating the necessary documentation as required.
  • Attending regional meetings as required, including Workstreams leads and Technical Design Authority. 
  • Create the required documentation for Niche Client including installation guides.
  • Provide support to the Configuration manager, as and when required, in the form of systems configuration and administration services for Regional NicheRMS
  • Provide support to the Solutions Analyst, as and when required by the Solutions Specialist, including and not limited to the Management of the Property manager solution, PND extract.
  • Have a thorough understanding of the Risk Management and Accreditation (RMADS) for NicheRMS and contribute where necessary to the documentation.
