Job Introduction:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Security Zone Manager to join the G4S Thames Tideway Account, based in West London.

The West Zone Manager is responsible for the management of the current security operation across the West Zone of the Thames Tideway Project theatre of Operations, meeting G4S performance standards and client operational requirements. Essentially the role is one of command, control, communications & coordination.

Reporting directly to the G4S Account Director, and providing operational security management to the client. The West Zone Manager will lead and manage all staff and operations whilst focusing on future projects and tasks and provides the support and guidance to the MWC (Main Works Contractor), including strong, supportive leadership and guidance to the security management team.

The West Zone Manager will have P&L responsibility for the zone in th £2m plus per annum contract.

Role Responsibility:

  • Leading operations for the delivery of services in the zone
  • Responsibility for the P&L performance of the assignments and business development/contract growth
  • Liaising with BMB MWC & TTT and other key stakeholders
  • Ensuring that HS&E is at forefront of delivery
  • Being the owner of cultural maturity improvement actions and Tideway transformational actions
  • Meeting or exceeding the standards of service Thames Tideway (TTT) expectats in line with Key Performance Indicators and contractual obligations
  • Supporting the interface with TTT/BMB and develop relationships with BMB Security Manager, BMB customers, contractors and stakeholders  to ensure the customer requirements are fully understood and met. - This May include Metropolitan Police (MPS)
  • Consistantly ensuring that communication between all elements of the security team and TTT/CVB is fully effective
  • Leading the Security Team, ensuring they are suitably developed, trained, rehearsed, briefed, ready and available to carry out their roles and responsibilities at all times. This includes resilience and managing shifts and cover.
  • Making sure that a 100% OMS record of all security staff is maintained
  • Seeking to enhance service delivery and develop opportunities to add value to the contract
  • Checking that contractual compliance is delivered at all times, including providing weekly report to G4S management
  • Making sure that policies and procedures in place are compliant with legislation, ISO 9002 requirements and that G4S’ own controls (OMS, AIs, Site Security Instructions, Risk Assessments etc.) are in place and up to date. Work closely with HSE Manager.
  • Using available assets to best effect at all times to maximise security provided on site
  • Ensuring Terms & Conditions of Employment for security staff reflect local conditions and support labour retention
  • Acting as Bronze Commander if and when an incident occurs and be prepared hand control to the TTT/BMB emergency coordinator, Account  Director or whoever and Deputies accordingly

Management Support:

  • Responsibility for the line Management of Zone Supervisors (West) and overall management of all zone staff, including COF/EPIC staff
  • Involvement in the recruitment of suitable staff for new posts and vacancies within zone following G4S processes and procedures
  • Working closely with HSEQ Manager, Commercial Manager and control room operators.

This contract includes circa 350 staff employed on shifts providing 24/7 operational support across the project cluster. This includes perimeter security, project command, control and project induction.

Flexibility is essential as this is a dynamic and rapidly developing project.

The Ideal Candidate:

Essential Requirements

  • Excellent communication and liaison skills at all levels with customers, management, senior management and employees
  • Have a minimum 4 years experience in a similar role or existing experience working on Tideway in a leadership role
  • Construction Site Security experience ideal
  • Incident management and leadership experience of working in a high-profile, high-pressure operational environment
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
  • Flexible, organised and able to work under pressure
  • Confident, well presented with excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent written communications skills
  • Ability to prioritize and work on own initiative, within company and client deadlines
  • Customer focus and an ability to develop key stakeholder relationships to enhance operational performance and develop the business
  • A good standard of computer literacy (including MS Office applications: Email, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and knowledge of G4S business process applications (OMS, SigNet, ESS, Securetrax)
  • Full UK driving license and a flexible approach to working patterns and hours
  • Frontline SIA DS License, CCTV desirable, CSCS card a must. Employment subject to passing On boarding successfully and EPIC training
  • ISOH Qualified minimum
  • 5 years checkable work history
  • Unrestricted right to work in the UK/EU
  • Fluent written and spoken English
