Job Introduction:

Do you want to be part of some of the greatest events across the UK from festivals, football, horse racing, motor racing and other prestigeous sporting events?

G4S Events is Europe’s leading independent provider of event security and crowd management services.  G4S are currently recruiting security personnel to work as part of our Events Team in 2012.

You will be working as part of an enthusiastic team that helps to keep the event safe and secure throughout. Events in the past have included The Grand National, Wimbledon, T in the Park and the British Grand Prix.

In addition to work in your local area you may on occasion be given the opportunity to work at other events in the UK.

Role Responsibility:

As a Security Steward you will be helping in all manner of ways including, but not limited to:

  • Searching
  • Response Teams
  • Hospitality and Bars.
  • Providing general guidance to the public.

“I absolutely love everything about my job and I count myself as a very lucky person. Customers talk about events for months before they attend as they really look forward to the event – well that is my life every day and it is a bonus that I get paid to do it. I have never had a job like it. The best part of the job for me is the team that I work with. We have such a great laugh and banter at work, which is not what people think when they think of security. I also love the interaction with the customers, although you do sometimes have to deal with confrontation but it is all about talking people down and bringing calm to the situation.” Andrea

Our staff provide a visible reminder that safety is our number one priority for visitors and staff at an event.

The Ideal Candidate:

You must be at least 18 years old and hold a valid SIA Door Supervisors License. Ideally you will have previous stewarding or customer care experience, however this is not essential as training will be provided. Excellent verbal communication skills and a common sense approach are essential. An aptitude to working with the public, a friendly, approachable and professional manner are all important but, above all, flexibility is key.

“My role is 98 % customer service – even though I work in a security role its all about the customer, being positive and having a happy face. The other 2% is dealing with disruptive people, which can be challenging.”

Amongst the regular work available in Glasgow, the following large one off events are coming up in 2013:

Scottish League Cup Final – Hampden

Scotland v Wales – Hampden

Scottish Cup Semi Final – Hampden

Scottish Cup Semi Final – Hampden

Scottish Cup Final – Hampden
