Job Introduction:

In 2012 G4S and Lincolnshire Police formed a Strategic Partnership and we are now currently looking for individuals who are interested in joining us as a Programme and Projects Officer on a fixed term contract for 12 months.

This position is full time for 40 hours per week. The post is based at Lincolnshire Police Headquarters, Nettleham. The benefits of working from this location include; free car parking and 24 hours use of a free gym.

The ideal candidate will be required to deliver on programmes and projects ongoing throughout the strategic partnership. They will also be required to support managers in developing projects, and understanding operational requirements to deliver projects that fit into the wider strategic objectives.

Role Responsibility:

  • To work with the Business Transformation Manager in the development of key work streams of the business transformation programme in close liaison with senior Policing Services managers and other stakeholders to ensure service improvement and efficiency savings.
  • To develop and update project and programme documentation to support new and current projects.
  • To ensure appropriate levels of governance and audit trail for all work streams.
  • To support the Business Transformation Manager in delivering business transformation projects ensuring they are delivered in accordance with project management principles, including supporting quality feasibility studies, business cases, and timelines for the evaluation of Business Transformation projects.
  • To ensure appropriate links with other projects and strategies within Policing Services is maintained and work with the Business Transformation Manager to ensure that appropriate ownership is taken of risks and dependencies between projects is identified and managed appropriately.
  • To seek customer satisfaction levels from appropriate stakeholders and work with the Business Transformation Manager to identify changes to service areas required to meet customer need. 
  • Coordinate the management of the delivery of business transformation projects as identified by stakeholders.
  • To engage with staff, contractors and consultants in line with programme and project requirements in line with matrix management principles.
  • To work both as part of a team and individually in relation to business development opportunities.
  • To contribute towards staffing solution modelling relevant to individual bids and tender documentation.
  • To undertake appropriate and relevant duties associated with due diligence where contracts are won/awarded.
  • Any other duties falling within the overall remit and grading of the post.

Essential Skills and Knowledge

  • Previous and evidenced experience of programme management in private, public or voluntary sector organisations.
  • Evidence of successful delivery of programmes that have realised savings and service improvements.
  • Experience in employee engagement and influencing staff, senior managers and stakeholders, to achieve organisational outcomes.
  • Experience of working in a matrix management environment.
  • Comprehensive IT skills including MS Project.
  • Accustomed to working in a challenging fast paced environment and able to meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated, and focused on achieving high levels of performance using initiative.
  • Good organisational skills – able to plan, prioritise and coordinate activities

Desirable Skills and Knowledge

  • Experience of working in a policing service environment.
  • A recognised Project management qualification e.g. Prince2, MSP etc.
  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent.
  • Experience of working in a contract environment.
