Job Introduction:

This newly created role of Head of Estates & FM will take responsibility for all aspects of the property portfolio used by the diverse G4S businesses operating throughout the UK and Ireland.

The estate comprises of industrial and specialised facilities and is critical to the successful delivery of high quality, cost-effective services to our government and corporate customers.

G4S is undergoing significant change in the region and as the most senior property professional in the business you will drive the property agenda. Reporting to the Group Chief Financial Officer, you will drive this small team in providing a wide range of services, demonstrating a willingness to “muck-in” with detailed issues. 

Role Responsibility:

  • Design and implement the estates’ operating model, strategy, policy and mandatory procedures based on the highest professional, business and industry standards.
  • Develop and maintain a best in class pro-active property life cycle process from acquisition to exit, including;
    • Estate Management
    • Facilities Management
    • Premises Health & Safety
    • Capital Works Projects
  • You will ensure the portfolio provides a safe working environment, is fit for purpose and reflects the evolving business needs.
  • Cultivate and maintain proactive relationships with key G4S stakeholders at a Group, Regional and local level.
  • Select, appoint and manage the performance of external service providers to deliver timely and cost effective completion of projects.
  • Act as an agent for change by promoting and driving best practice across all real estate activity, including management processes, financial reporting and forecasting, workplace efficiency, site consolidation and co-location.
  • Provide guidance and support to the Estates and Facilities Management team.

The Ideal Candidate:

You will already have extensive experience operating client-side in a complex corporate or government organisation dealing with estate, facilities and project management. Ideally, you will also have experience in creating a new property management model.  You will demonstrate significant experience of managing and influencing internal and external stakeholders. You will also:

  • Have experience in a similar, security orientated business – preferable
  • Be a member of RICS or demonstrate the equivalent in experience
  • Be highly competent in the use of best-in-class outsourcing models for estate, facilities and the management of capital projects.
  • Show excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills with the ability to create and articulate compelling business cases for an executive audience
  • Be a strategic thinker, comfortable with detail and with superior problem solving skills experienced in financial analysis and financial modelling.
