Job Introduction:

In 2012 G4S and Lincolnshire Police formed a Strategic Partnership and we are now currently looking for an individual who is interested in joining us as a HR Adviser.

This is a great opportunity for a HR Adviser to join our team on a full time contract for 40 hours per week.

The post is based at Lincolnshire Police Headquarters, Nettleham. The benefits of working from this location include; free car parking and 24 hours use of a free gym.

The ideal candidate will support the Senior HR Adviser in delivering a professional, effective and proactive HR advisory service in relation to G4S and client organisations, in order to support departments to meet their objectives.

Please note that, due to the nature of security checks undertaken, applicants must have 3 years continuous residency in the UK at the point of application.

Role Responsibility:

  • Provide a pro-active and effective HR advisory service in relation to a variety of ER matters including, grievance, capability, discipline, absence, TUPE and change programmes.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with strategic and operational line managers across the organisation.
  • Support and advise managers in dealing with conduct, performance and capability issues within their teams, including advice within investigations and hearings.
  • Monitor attendance levels making sure that effective action is being taken in relation to return to work interviews and management of short-term and long-term absence.
  • Monitor HR-related matters across the business and work with line managers to ensure cases are progressed in line with procedure.
  • Establish effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, including trade unions and staff associations.
  • Provide advice and guidance on terms and conditions of employment, policies and procedures and practice across the business.
  • Providing briefings to managers on new HR policies, procedures, processes and changes to employment legislation, encouraging the effective implementation.
  • Support and advise managers in job analysis, creation of role profiles and in recruiting effectively into new and vacant posts.
  • Work closely with the wider HR teams to ensure the service provided by the Department as a whole is aligned.
  • Develop new policies and procedures, undertake reviews of current policies and procedures and coordinate the consultation of these as required.
  • Attend and contribute to meetings across the business as required.
  • Carry out any other duties as may be determined from time to time with the general scope of the post.

Essential Skills and Knowledge

  • Educated to degree level or significant HR experience
  • Hold a recognised HR accreditation – CIPD
  • Be accustomed to working in a challenging fast paced environment, whilst working on multiple projects simultaneously to specific deadlines.
  • Have meticulous attention to detail, with excellent organisational and planning skills – able to work to tight time constraints.
  • An excellent communicator, both verbal and written.
  • Sound, up to date knowledge of UK employment law.
  • Able to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of people gaining credibility at all levels.
  • Strong influencing and negotiating skills being able to sell the benefit of change and improvement.
  • Able to challenge current practices in a constructive manner.
