Reporting into the Group Finance Manager, you will support the group external reporting team in preparing accurate, timely and relevant external and internal financial reporting. You’ll work with the G4S global finance community to analyse, improve and standardise financial reporting across the group.

Role Responsibility:

  • Preparing the financial content of the group’s external reports, including the annual Integrated Report and Accounts and the half-yearly results announcement (both prepared under IFRS)
  • Continuous development of monthly analysis and consolidation schedules, working with the group systems team to ensure timely and accurate monthly reporting
  • Establishing working relationships within the G4S global finance community, to facilitate insightful analysis of and commentary on monthly reporting and complex transactions
  • Supporting the external reporting team to provide IFRS and accounting guidance across the group, including maintenance of the group finance manual, preparation of material for monthly webex technical updates.
  • Performing the annual and half-yearly goodwill impairment tests (£2bn of goodwill in c.100 CGUs)
  • Working with the group M&A team to understand the accounting for acquisitions and disposals, including review of SPAs and related agreements
  • Supporting group treasury with the accounting for the group’s £2bn of debt, including a number of interest-rate and cross-currency swap derivatives
  • Dealing with ad hoc requests from other internal group and regional departments
  • Working with PwC to facilitate their year-end audit and half-year review.

The Ideal Candidate:

You’ll already be a Chartered Accountant (ACA), either recently qualified with experience of auditing group consolidated accounts under IFRS, or with up to 2 years’ post-qualification experience of either auditing or preparing group consolidated accounts under IFRS.  You’ll have strong technical accounting skills and excellent attention to detail.

You will also have:

  • Experience of and interest in researching technical IFRS accounting issues ideally in a group (FTSE250) organisation.
  • Strong ability with excel and familiarity with consolidation systems (SAP BPC preferable)               .
  • Good communication and organisational skills with the ability to build strong relationships with the key people in the regions and other parts of the organisation.                               
  • The ability to meet tight deadlines and to work on multiple tasks and have a flexible approach to work.
  • A flexible approach to travel as there may occasionally be a requirement to attend overseas meetings e.g. to conduct balance sheet reviews.
