Job Introduction:

We now have an exciting opportunity for a CPU Driver to join the G4S Secure Solutions (UK) team. 

Role Responsibility:

To drive a police vehicle for the purposes of collection and delivery of person/persons to and from various locations throughout Northern Ireland, including security establishments, Criminal Justice establishments and Government Buildings as directed.

Main duties and responsibilities: 

  • Work as part of a team under day to day direction from CPU Constable and CPU Management Team
  • Drive police vehicles safely with consideration for others in accordance with Service policy and in line with he system of car control
  • Comply with Health and Safety legislation demonstrating a duty of care
  • Book vehicle out in accordance with CPU protocols. Prior to driving any police vehicle, conduct required checks and ensure that the vehicle is safe, roadworthy and properly equipped for operational purpose. Ensure any damage, defects or lack of equipment is dealt with in accordance with PSNI protocols
  • Maintain cleanliness and good order of vehicle ensuring optimum turnout at all time. Vehicle to be re-fuelled and washed prior to commencement of next day's duty
  • Only drive vehicles authorised to drive. Drive in a professional manner displaying consideration for others. Adhere to the principles of the Highway Code and relevant traffic legislation including adherence to speed restrictions at all time.
  • Operate all vehicle controls smoothly and accurately.
  • Provide customer service
  • Complete administration procedures
  • Maintain a record management system
  • Input, present and retrieve data using a computer
  • Review, retain and dispose of records and information
  • Photocopy, present and distribute documents
  • Process incoming telephone calls
  • This is a non-armed role. Under no circumstances should Contract staff be in possession of a firearm when engaged in this role 


The Ideal Candidate:

  • Must possess Institute of Advance Motorists (IAM) qualification or ROSPA Gold
  • Must have an SIA licence
  • High standard of personal presentation
  • Must have Emergency First Aid at Work certificate
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • An aptitude for attention to detail and the maintenance of accurate records
  • The ability to remain calm and focused within a pressurised environment
  • A strong commitment to delivering excellent customer service
  • The ability to work as part of a team
  • Problem solving skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative 


  • Must have been employed in a driving capacity within the past 5 years (essential)
  • Previous police driving experience at advanced level (desirable)
  • Good knowledge of the road network throughout Northern Ireland (desirable)
